About me

Hi y’all!Anne Graves, nurse, Headshot About Me

I am Anne and I am the mama and registered nurse behind The New Mama Nurse blog. I am a wife to a busy firefighter and Air National Guardsman and the mom of two crazy, awesome, and active boys. I am a fairly new stay-at-home mom who wants to become a work-at-home mom while my kids are at school and my husband is off doing, as he would say, “fightin’ fires and saving lives.”

Maternal and Child Health Nurse

I am a certified lactation consultant and registered nurse with a master’s degree in health informatics (a fancy term for the science of processing health information, exciting, I know! :)) that until recently has been working as a public health nurse for our local county health department. I have years (and years!) of experience working with pregnant, postpartum, and parenting moms and have spent most of the last decade of my life working hands-on with these mamas in their homes and within the health department.

All Mama’s Want What is Best

Parenting is a unique experience for all involved. Every mom and baby are special. Everyone has a different life story. That is what makes the world go around. But what I have found through my experiences is that what almost every mom has in common is that they love their children and want to do what is best for them.

Support and Empower

My goal with this blog is to support and empower women to be the best moms that they can be. I do this by providing health and wellness education and information around all aspects of the pregnancy and parenting experience. I will do my best to provide accurate, up-to-date, and evidence-based information (in other words, information that is backed by lots of research!!) when possible.

If you ever have questions, I will do my best to answer them! Either leave a comment at the end of a post or feel free to email me over at my contact me page.

P.S. A few fun facts about me. I once climbed a glacier in New Zealand and I love to build things, like furniture, in my spare time. Btw, if you ever are thinking about going to New Zealand, it was one of the coolest experiences of my life and I really badly want to take my family there on vacation someday! Go there, it is amazing!
